Welcome to our new Trainee Financial Planner – Emma

Thomas and Thomas Welcomes New Trainee Planner Emma

It is with great pleasure we can now tell our clients that we have taken on our new trainee financial planner – Emma Jones.

I started trying to find someone with that ‘something special factor’ to join our small dynamic team right back in November 2016.

I enthusiastically engaged the services of three separate recruitment companies who set to work in finding the right person. Three months later, we had seen no one we felt happy introducing to our clients.

Undeterred, I then started working with the Universities at Swansea, Carmarthen and Aberystwyth as well as local Sixth Form Colleges and advertising in the paper. We wanted to throw the net wide to find that unique individual who can cope with intense learning and pressure whilst also possessing great people skills.

After six months (and dozens of interviews) we finally came across Emma Jones and (after two gruelling interviews spaced a week apart) we were left in no doubt we had found someone brilliant to be a part of the Thomas and Thomas family.

Emma joins us with a first class honours BA degree in Business Management and Finance from the University of Wales Trinity St Davids’ based in Carmarthen.

We were particularly impressed with Emma because she has managed to hold down a store assistant manager position whilst completing full time study with great success.

Emma said: “I believe the skills I have gained during my time of study, including, problem solving, analytical and social skills have assisted with the process of employment. Just a month after completing my course I was fortunate enough to receive a job offer from Thomas and Thomas. I look forward to starting my long and successful career and I truly believe that, thanks to the skills gained from university; I will be a vital asset to this business.”

UWTSD Dean of Faculty of Business and Management, Roger Maidment said: “We are delighted for Emma and wish her every success in her new job. Ensuring our graduates have the knowledge, skills and attributes to secure an appropriate position is our overriding priority and enables us to make a real contribution to the regional economy and local employers.”

Emma started with us this week after completing all of our checks and initial tests. She now will begin two years or so of the Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma in Financial Planning. This will entail studying, sitting and passing six exams.

We have every confidence in Emma’s abilities to do this. We would be very grateful if Emma could sit in on any client meetings we have with you over the coming months and we have very high hopes for her.

Emma benefits from having Katy, Lisa and I to help train and develop her skills and knowledge. Our thanks to Katy for being such a help already.

The future is bright for Thomas and Thomas. Welcome to the family Emma!
