Plastic pollution is going to be one of the main problems facing our world in 2024. Unquestionably, the material has improved human life and made things easier for industries like retail and medicine. But the cost is being paid by our ecosystem.

Did you know*:

• The output of plastic production is twice as much as 20 years ago — Demand still outweighs the growing awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste
• Around 85% of plastic waste ends up in landfills, even if some is considered recyclable — Most of this will end up in low-income countries with poor waste management systems
• Roughly 1 million marine creatures will die in the next ten years as a result of plastic pollution — This is putting endangered ocean species, such as hawksbill turtles, whale sharks, and sea otters, at particular risk of being wiped out

It’s impossible to ignore the effect that plastic pollution is having on our planet.

So how can you help? Please join us for our Fifth annual Thomas and Thomas beach clean on Tuesday 14^th May at 9.45 am for around 2 hours.

Once again the action will all take place on Newgale beach Pembrokeshire. We have chosen this beach because – not only is it a local spot for many of our clients – we are always amazed at what gets trapped between the long bank of pebbles (previous finds include remnants of a rope bridge, fishing tackle, beer cans, and tourist waste).

You will need appropriate clothing and footwear and some strong gloves. As ever, we will sort out the bin bags and refreshments.
