Katy Gains Final Qualification

We are delighted to inform all of our clients that our trainee financial planner is no longer a trainee!

Katy Owen joined Thomas and Thomas in 2014. Already having some experience in financial services, Katy proved a valuable addition to the team in a very short space of time. Her attention to detail and diligence has established her within the firm as someone our clients can really trust and rely upon.

During the past couple of years, Katy has been on an intensive exam journey. She has studied, sat and passed no fewer than six major exams set by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to now be awarded her Diploma in Financial Planning.

Darren Lloyd Thomas at the firm said ‘Katy has absorbed complex financial information and concepts at an incredible rate, her commitment to passing these professional qualifications should be applauded. This is a very happy day for both Katy and the firm and it is proof that you don’t need to travel to London to forge a career if you are determined and hard-working’.

Katy now embarks upon her career as a financial planner within Thomas and Thomas. She will be seeking to build up her own client bank within the successful framework and support of an award winning financial planning practise.

‘This is a dream come true for me’ said Owen. ‘I fell in love with financial planning several years ago, but finding a firm to sponsor me through the long process of exams seemed impossible. I am excited about advising my own clients. I feel that a client is for life and these relationships of trust are so important. There are so many people out there who need professional financial planning as opposed to just buying an investment product. I can’t wait to start helping people.’

It would appear as if the exam bug has rubbed off on Katy. She has already set her sights on achieving the much coveted Certified and Chartered status seen as the very pinnacle of the financial planning profession. Just like her mentor Darren, she is committed to staying at the cutting edge of Wealth Management already pushing on to studying for her next exam in her spare time.

Katy also has a passion for socially responsible investing, having already established herself within the firm by building a successful ‘Eco’ portfolio for some of our clients. ‘Whilst socially responsible or ethical investments will not be right for everyone, there is an ever growing demand for screened portfolios that seek to invest more responsibly’ explains Katy. ‘It is a wonderful feeling being able to marry up ethical investing with prudent planning’.

If you know someone who you think would benefit from a young dynamic financial planner backed by a well-established and trusted firm locally – why not contact Katy today?
