Thomas and Thomas 2025 Beach Clean

Plastic is one of the most enduring materials created. We all know that it can take hundreds of years for plastic to degrade, and research is showing that it is possible that it does not even fully degrade, but becomes what we call microplastic.

Did you know*:

  • Plastic waste makes up 80% of all marine pollution and around 8 to 10 million metric tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year.
  • Research states that, by 2050, plastic will likely outweigh all fish in the sea.
  • Currently, there are about 50-75 trillion pieces of plastic and microplastics in the ocean.

Plastic pollution is one of the most urgent environmental challenges of our time

So how can you help? Please join us for our Sixth annual Thomas and Thomas beach clean on Tuesday 13th May at 10:00 am for around 2 hours.

Once again the action will all take place on Newgale beach in Pembrokeshire. We have chosen this beach because – not only is it a local spot for many of our clients – we are always amazed at what gets trapped between the long bank of pebbles (previous finds include remnants of a rope bridge, fishing tackle, beer cans, and tourist waste).

You will need appropriate clothing and footwear and some strong gloves. As ever, we will sort out the bin bags and refreshments.

Please email Teleri teleri@thomasnadthomasfinance.co.uk if you would like to join us this year. We will then be in touch closer to the day with any weather updates.
