Darren and Katy travelled up to London for the first time since the pandemic this week; to challenge for the most prestigious award in financial services – Citywire’s New Model Adviser Firm of the Year.
The award is open to some 6,000 advice firms around the UK and celebrates the very best in financial planning. It seeks to recognise firms who are delivering measurably excellent ongoing service, achieving high levels of qualifications, contributing to the profession whilst being profitable and innovative.
The award is split into categories and Thomas and Thomas made it to the final five firms in the Wales category after a submission that took some days to prepare and evidence.
We were up against some strong competition and we really didn’t know if we had done enough to win.
The Awards were presented at a gala dinner. It felt surreal to be celebrating the release from Covid, back to ‘normality’ – only to all be very mindful of such shocking events in Ukraine at this time.
Katy and Darren went up to collect the award and Darren explained in his acceptance speech that both he and Lisa greatly value Katy’s input over the past eight years. It was a truly special moment in time for our small firm.
Picking up a large award at national level when you are over in Haverfordwest is not easy! However, we have always believed that anything can be achieved if you work hard and long enough at it. Huge thanks to Bethan, Holly, Lisa and Carys for their help in making it happen.
The big stars though are our clients. Without you, none of this would have been possible. You all mean a great deal to us and your encouragement and support through the many mountains we have all climbed together on our journey has made everything so much more rewarding.
Hopefully we can see 2022 turn into a brighter year for all of us, if one small award is the start of good things – then so be it!
