Yesterday I travelled back up to London to attend the 2017 Professional Adviser Awards. Beneath a carpet of helium balloons sat hundreds of fund managers and financial planning firm directors as they nervously awaited the outcome of the awards.
This was our first time of entering these particular awards which included a fairly thorough filtering process. As well as the usual financial and company information, we had been presented with a tough ‘real life’ case study where we had to build a suitable financial plan which was scrutinised by a panel of judges – including the head of education for the Institute of Financial Planning.
The award categories were split geographically and we were very happy to see that we had made it to the final five firms for Wales.
The categories then led to an ultimate winner for the year and in some cases a ‘Highly Commended’ handed to a firm which had really stood out to the judges – a sort of ‘runner up’ prize where it had been tough to decide.
Whilst we didn’t win this year, we were honoured with the title of ‘Highly Commended’ for the Wales category which I was naturally delighted with.
When Lisa and I launched Thomas and Thomas in 2006, we had a firm vision, to stay at the forefront of financial planning and continue to be recognised as one of the very best firms irrespective of our size or location. I am very proud of our little teams’ achievement last night. It confirms our vision and we shall continue to strive to remain one of the very best financial planning firms in the country.
Thank you to all of our clients who have supported us on the journey. You are all very special to us and I feel this success is something that we all share.
My very best wishes
